To Be Read at Your Funeral

It's hard loosing someone you love so much. My great grandfather was truly inspiring throughout my short life. My travels after Melba High school took me to the University of Idaho. I knew this made grandpa especially proud. He always spoke to me about his experiences in Vandal Country- His $150.00 railroad scholarship that brought him to northern Idaho to study Dairy Production. There is one story I’ll never forget. Before driving home to Melba in the winter time he needed to buy a wool jacket. Grandpa’s dad told him to only use that checkbook in the case of an emergency. Feeling as though this was a true emergency he wrote a check for that jacket. There was snow on the ground and he was traveling home with some friends in a jeep without a top. When grandpa got home he had to explain why he had just spent $10.00 on a jacket.

He was also the inspiration behind raising those fantastic Farner pigs- Durocs to be exact! He always said they were the best! There is nothing better than a fat, fine, red hog!

His love for my grandma Treva has also given me great strength. I find that strength shining through in my own relationships! When she passed away in July 2000 he was absolutely crushed but fought for eight years without her! My grandpa is truly a special man and I will deeply miss his smile, friendship, and love however I know that right now he’s smiling down from heaven cradling his wife in his arms.

A reading that gives me great comfort can be found in Revelations chapter 21 verse 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

He always used to say- I prayed for you today Andrea and now I can say to him- Grandpa- I prayed you would find happiness in the lords kingdom, Welcome home!

Say Your Prayers

It's been a while since I posted something on here!

We decided to send Will to another dentist for a second opinion. This one looks more promising. While his wisdom teeth will still need to be removed this dentist is cheaper. He didn't find nearly the cavities the other dentist did and had never heard of something called gingivitis therapy. That's a sigh of relief. I found out that I need to get another tetanus and polio shot! Will most likely will have to have another polio shot. ARGH! Not fun at all!

On another note my grandma called me this morning with some bad news. My great grandpa whom will be 96 next month is in the hospital. He has been suffering from dementia which explains his outbursts in the nursing home. He was becoming extremely angry with nurses and even members of my family. Yesterday he suffered from a massive heart attack and double pneumonia. When I talked with my grandmother this morning she said they removed all the tubes- he's in a coma- and living on the oxygen being supplied to him. It saddens me that this is the way he has to die.

It's going to be hard to loose someone you love so much. My grandpa has always been an inspiration to me. He always spoke to me about his experiences at the University of Idaho- His $150.00 railroad scholarship that brought him to northern Idaho to study Dairy Production. His tales of buying a jacket using his dad's check book because it was cold here and riding home in a jeep without a top in the middle of winter! He was also the inspiration behind raising those fantastic pigs- Durocs to be exact! He always said they were the best! His love for my grandma has also given me great strength. When she passed away in July 2000 he was absolutely crushed but has fought for eight years without her!

My grandpa is truly a special man and I will deeply miss his smile, friendship, and love but I will know that he'll be in a great place. He will once again be reunited with his wife and the pain and suffering will end! The only thing I can do right now is say my prayers and hope that gods grace will take him to a better place. He always used to say- I prayed for you today Andrea and now I can say to him- Grandpa- I'm praying for you! I love you grandpa!

Frustration!

Today I can almost officially say that the doctors and dentists are over with!
However there is good news and bad news. The good news is my dentist appointment went great! I didn't have any cavities and my wisdom teeth are happy as clams nestled in my gums. My doctors appointment went well too! I had the good ol' pap smear which is never exciting and some blood drawn- the results will be back next week- I'm sure I'm healthy-
The bad news- Will went to the doctor and he too passed with flying colors- however when he went to the dentist it was a different story. Apparently two of his wisdom teeth are already through but there is a piece of his gums on top of them which makes it to where he can't fully brush the tooth- therefore they would like to pull his two bottom wisdom teeth. If that doesn't add insult to injury he has 8 tiny cavities in between his teeth! GRRRRR...I know I'm the only one that can go to the dentist throughout my life thus far and be cavity free so when he told me 8 cavities I was like what the freak! We brush and eat the same! How could this be? Along with that he has one gum that measured a 4 meaning it's covering one of his teeth and once again brushing is a problem. So on top of this whole mess they want to do gum therapy. Total bill $4,000!!!! I don't know where this money is going to come from??? But I guess we'll find a way- we always do it's just very frustrating right now and the feeling of- is this really worth it- is beginning to set in :(
